Bangkok is undoubtedly the world capital of street food. After 6 months exploring the city streets and testing dozens of stalls, here's my complete guide to the best places to eat like a local for just a few baht.
Chinatown (Yaowarat Road) - Nighttime Paradise
Yaowarat Road transforms every evening into an open-air feast. This is THE spot to discover Bangkok street food. Stalls set up from 6pm and the atmosphere builds to a crescendo until midnight.

My Chinatown Must-Haves
Nai Ek Roll Noodles
40-60 THB
The famous hand-rolled noodles. A unique and incredible texture. The line can be long but it's really worth the wait.
Soi Phadungdao, near Yaowarat Road
T&K Seafood
200-400 THB
The curry crab and grilled shrimp are legendary. It's more expensive than average but the quality is exceptional.
49-51 Soi Phlapphla Chai, Pom Prap
Pad Thai Fai Ta Lu
50-80 THB
My favorite pad thai in Bangkok! They cook it over a huge fire (hence the name "fai ta lu" which means "big fire"). The flavors are incredible.
Thanon Charoen Krung, Yaowarat
Sukhumvit Soi 38 - The Classic Night Market
Although touristy, Sukhumvit Soi 38 remains a safe bet for discovering Thai street food classics in an accessible environment. It's perfect for a first street food experience in Bangkok.
Must-Try Dishes
Pad Thai with shrimp - 60 THB
Som Tam (green papaya salad) - 40 THB
Mango Sticky Rice - 60 THB
Chicken Satay - 50 THB (5 skewers)
Victory Monument - The Locals' Secret
Victory Monument is my favorite spot for authentic street food. Few tourists venture here, which means local prices and exceptional quality. The atmosphere is electric, especially on weekends.
The night market starts around 5pm and reaches its peak around 8pm. You'll find absolutely everything: from noodle soups to grilled meats and traditional desserts.
Or Tor Kor Market - For Discerning Foodies
If you're looking for premium street food in a clean, air-conditioned environment, Or Tor Kor is your destination. It's considered one of the best food markets in the world.

Prices are slightly higher than on the street, but the quality of ingredients is impeccable. It's the ideal place to buy exotic fruits, local snacks to take home, and to taste traditional dishes in excellent hygienic conditions.
Ratchawat Market - The Morning Market
To discover Thai breakfast street food, head to Ratchawat Market from 6am. Jok (rice porridge), Patongo (Chinese donuts), and Khanom Krok (small coconut pancakes) await you.

Conclusion
Street food in Bangkok is an experience in itself. It's much more than just a meal - it's a total immersion into Thai culture. Don't be afraid to venture outside tourist areas, that's where you'll discover the best hidden gems.
My advice: Start with the best-known markets to get familiar, then explore local neighborhoods. Download Google Translate in offline mode to make ordering easier. And above all, always carry cash - most stalls don't accept cards!
Enjoy your meal, or as they say in Thai: Thaan a-haan hai a-roi! (Good meal!)
